Assembly Floor Votes to Pass Bill to Make Prescription Drugs Affordable to All Nevadans
Supporters are encouraged to see AB250 Pass the Assembly Floor.
CARSON CITY, NV – Today, the Assembly Floor voted to pass AB250, extending the Inflation Reduction Act’s prescription drugs affordability measures to all Nevadans. Proponents of the bill argue this is a needed step towards making healthcare affordable given the long history of racial inequities in prescription drug affordability. AB250 was passed 27 to 15. The bill will now move over to the Senate where it will be heard in the Senate Commerce and Labor Committee.
Annette Magnus, Executive Director, of Battle Born Progress said:
“We thank the Assemblymembers who voted to pass AB250 and Assemblywoman Considine for championing this critical bill. Nevadans believe that prescription drugs should be affordable; research shows that there is strong bipartisan support for setting price limits on prescription drugs.
“We are elated to see that the Nevada State Assembly is taking the necessary steps to prevent Big Pharma from continuing to continue profiting at the expense of working Nevada families and businesses. AB250 requires the Silver State to use negotiated prices of pharmaceutical drugs in Medicare while also reducing healthcare costs and stimulating our economy. The cost of prescription drugs has been steadily increasing and has made it difficult for many people to access the medications they need. We are thankful to Assemblywoman Considine for her diligent work to move this bill forward. Now as we look to the Senate to take up this measure.”
