NEVADA – During the primary election earlier this year, Silver State Voice and Institute for a Progressive Nevada joined together to release their biannual, nonpartisan voter guide, listing candidates running for office and their responses to standardized survey questions about various topics. Today, the VoteSmartNV guide is relaunching just as mail-in ballots begin reaching Nevada voters’ mailboxes in Washoe County for the 2020 general election. The guide has been updated to reflect candidates on the general election ballot, descriptions of the five Ballot Questions, and updated information about voting by mail or in-person following the passage and Governor’s signature of Assembly Bill 4 (A.B. 4) in the most recent Special Session of the legislature.

“The votesmartnv.org voter guide is a vital election resource for Nevada voters to aid them in making informed choices during an election year”, said Emily Persaud-Zamora, Executive Director of Silver State Voices. “With the coronavirus pandemic still a major public health concern, I am thankful for the legislature and the Governor had the foresight to pass A.B. 4 so that voters will have the option to vote by mail or drop off their mail-in ballot if they choose, in order to keep themselves and their immediate families safe, as well as enfranchise voters by making the process more straightforward. This guide we are launching today will make voting even more convenient for those voting from home, as they can easily compare candidates’ responses on the issues they care about or learn more about the various ballot questions on their computer or device as they fill out their ballot in real time. We’re proud to work with IPN once again to provide VoteSmartNV to all voters in Nevada.”

“All eligible voters in Nevada deserve access to information that empowers them to make informed choices when exercising their right to vote,” said Institute for a Progressive Nevada Executive Director, Annette Magnus. “We’re proud to relaunch VoteSmartNV for the general election as a tool for voters to utilize as they fill out their ballots. Our guide this year not only informs voters about who’s who on their ballot, but gives them a clear run-down of all their available options A.B. 4 afforded voters to cast their ballot this year, including voting by mail, by dropping off their ballot at a vote center, or voting in-person at any of the vote centers in the county in which they live. With this information at their fingertips and options for how to participate, we hope to see a high level of voter turnout among Nevadans in this upcoming general election.”

About: This is a non-partisan voter guide – all candidates that have filed for the offices listed were asked to submit answers to the same set of questions. All candidates who responded have their answers listed, unedited, on their respective candidate page. We do not support, oppose or endorse any candidate, campaign, or political party. In 2018, the VoteSmartNV Voter Guide was accessed by over 23,000 Nevada voters statewide and reached nearly 3 million combined viewers via ads on Facebook and Spotify.
